The Druk Path trek is one of the most popular treks in Bhutan because of its proximity to Paro and Thimphu and is easily completed in an 8-day visit to Bhutan with enough time to visit Taksang. The route is sparsely inhabited by nomadic yak herders but there are wonderful lakes teeming with fish. The area is known for spectacular rhododendron forests which bloom in April and May.
The first day of the trek is moderately strenuous due to a large altitude gain but becomes relatively easy to the end. The trek route passes through some beautiful high altitude lakes. It starts in Paro and ends in Thimphu. The highest point along the route is 3,800 meters (12,467 feet).
Although the trek can be done any time of the year, it is best to avoid July and August because the monsoon season will make the paths very muddy, the clouds are likely to obscure the view and the presence of leaches. It is also preferable to avoid from December through February due to cold.

Taktsang Monastery Hike
Your final full day in Bhutan is one of spiritual immersion and breathtaking beauty. After breakfast, you’ll set out for the famous Taktsang Monastery, widely known as the Tiger’s Nest. Perched dramatically on a cliffside at 3,120 meters, this sacred temple complex is a pilgrimage site for Bhutanese and a must-see for visitors. According to legend, Guru Rinpoche flew to this spot on the back of a tigress to subdue a local demon and meditated in a cave that the monastery now encloses. The hike to reach Taktsang winds through fragrant pine forests and is adorned with colorful prayer flags, offering spectacular views and moments of quiet reflection along the way.
After descending, you’ll visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most sacred temples, believed to have been built in the 7th century.
